The quick version: Moorestown Township Public Schools serves about 3,900 students across six schools. Niche ranked the district #1 in Burlington County and #16 in New Jersey in its 2026 rankings, with an overall A+ grade. And in September 2025, voters approved a $108.3 million plan that will reshape which grades go where and bring free full-day kindergarten.

Here's how it works today. Children start in one of the three elementary schools and stay through third grade. Everyone then comes together at Moorestown Upper Elementary for grades 4 through 6. From there they go to William Allen for 7th and 8th grade, then on to Moorestown High School.

Niche's 2026 rankings place Moorestown Township Public Schools:
- #1 among school districts in Burlington County
- #16 among school districts in New Jersey
- A+ overall, with A+ grades for academics, teachers and college prep
Niche also lists a student-teacher ratio of about 14 to 1 for the district. Sports earned an A and clubs and activities a B+.
One grade worth mentioning is the lowest one. Niche gave the district a C+ for resources and facilities. That lines up with the reason for the referendum below. The district has been working with older buildings, tight space and aging systems.
A word of caution about rankings: they're a useful starting point, but every site weighs things differently. I always encourage buyers to look at the official NJ School Performance Reports, visit the schools, and talk to current parents.
The Big News: The $108.3 Million Referendum
This is what most articles about Moorestown schools are missing.
In September 2025, Moorestown voters approved a two-question school bond referendum to fund about $108.3 million in projects. The state is contributing roughly $18.7 million. The district's goal is to have the work done by the 2028-29 school year.
What's being built and changed:
- William Allen Middle School is adding 13 classrooms and a new full-size gym, so it can take 6th graders
- Moorestown Upper Elementary is expected to shift to grades 3 through 5
- The three elementary schools would then serve the youngest students, with room for smaller classes and kindergarten classrooms
- Free full-day kindergarten is planned to start at that same time
- Moorestown High School is getting renovations, three new turf fields with lighting, and a new operations center
- Districtwide upgrades include heating and cooling, roofs and security
What it costs homeowners: The district estimated the full package would add about $648 per year, or roughly $54 a month, for a home assessed at the town average of $465,125. Your own bill will depend on your home's assessed value.
What this means if you're buying now:
- If you have a child who's currently in 4th, 5th or 6th grade, the grade structure could change during their time in the district.
- If you have a little one, full-day kindergarten is on the way, though it won't start immediately.

If you're weighing private school, Moorestown Friends School is a well-known Quaker school right on East Main Street, serving PreK through 12. Tuition was listed at around $39,000 for high school for 2025-26, but please check with the school for current figures.
Moorestown Schools and Home Values
I get asked whether good schools mean higher home prices. In general, strong school reputations tend to increase buyer demand, and demand supports values. But I can't give you a magic number, because so many things go into a home's price: location, condition, lot size, and more.
