Happy Halloween from Jerry Mac Homes: Halloween and fall fun in Cinnaminson, Riverton, Marlton, Palmyra, Cherry Hill, Maple Shade, Medford and more

October is the best month to be out and about in South Jersey, and this year Halloween lands on a Saturday. Here is what is happening in Medford, Voorhees, Maple Shade, Palmyra, Riverton, Cherry Hill, Cinnaminson, Marlton and Mount Laurel, with links straight to each town's own page. I pulled these dates from official town sites on October 7, 2026, so confirm times before you head out, since weather and schedules can change.

The biggest weekends are October 17 and October 24, with parades in three towns and a free festival in Voorhees.

Town by town

Medford

Medford has the fullest October calendar of the group. The township's special events page lists the Apple Festival at Kirby's Mill on October 10, a free shredding event at Freedom Park on October 17, and the Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 24. The township notes that some 2026 events are tentative, so check the parade website for the start time. Food trucks line Main Street the third Thursday of each month, which is October 15. The Scarecrow Festival already happened on October 3.

The Learning Experience on Old Marlton Pike is also hosting a public trunk-or-treat on Friday, October 16, from 5 to 6 p.m. Families can bring a decorated vehicle and join in.

Voorhees

Voorhees Township's Harvest Festival is Saturday, October 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2400 Voorhees Town Center. Admission and parking are free. Expect a pumpkin patch, hayrides, pumpkin decorating, a petting zoo, kids' activities, music, fire prevention displays, food trucks and craft vendors. The township had not set a rain date when I checked.

Maple Shade

The Maple Shade Halloween Parade steps off at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, on Main Street. Groups that want to march can email the township's recreation office through that page. A week earlier, on October 17, the township's 2nd Annual Color Run returns on its rescheduled date.

Palmyra

The Palmyra Halloween Parade runs Friday, October 30, through downtown. Floats, bands, school groups and walkers need to register by October 23. The House Decorating Contest and Pet Costume Contest are both open now on the same site. Weather pushed the parade to a Sunday last year, so follow the parade's Facebook page if the forecast turns.

Cherry Hill

The Spooktacular Craft & Vendor Market is listed for Saturday, October 24, at 10 a.m. at the Cherry Hill Mall, according to an Eventbrite listing. Cherry Hill had not posted its trick-or-treat hours when I checked.

Cinnaminson, Marlton, Mount Laurel and Riverton: dates still to come

These four towns had not posted 2026 Halloween dates when I checked, but each has a yearly tradition worth watching for. The details below are from last year, so treat them as a guide to what is likely, not as this year's schedule.

  • Cinnaminson: The township trunk-or-treat ran at the Memorial Park walking track from 6 to 7:30 p.m., for Cinnaminson residents only, with a DJ and prizes.
  • Marlton (Evesham): The Evesham police department held its Trunk or Treat at Savich Field on E. Main Street, 6 to 8 p.m., with prizes for the best-decorated trunks.
  • Mount Laurel: The Mount Laurel Y ran a Halloween event with a spooky trail, games and crafts on a late-October Sunday morning.
  • Cherry Hill trick-or-treating: Last year the township recommended 3 to 8 p.m., with a suggested curfew for unaccompanied kids after 8. Those hours are recommendations, not requirements.
  • Riverton: The borough has not posted 2026 Halloween events. Last year it set trick-or-treating for 2 to 8 p.m. on October 31, with a 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew on October 30 and 31 for anyone under 18 without a guardian. Check the borough's community calendar for updates, and note that the Palmyra Halloween Parade on October 30 is the closest big event for Riverton families.

Halloween on a Saturday: plan for a longer night

With October 31 on a Saturday, expect more kids out later and busier streets, so plan the evening ahead of time. Cherry Hill police suggest a few simple habits that work in any town:

  • Choose light-colored or reflective costumes so drivers can see kids.
  • Carry a flashlight or glow stick.
  • Plan a route in familiar neighborhoods and stick to sidewalks.
  • Walk, don't run, between houses.

If you are handing out candy, leave your porch light on and clear walkways of anything kids could trip over.
