Hi, I'm Jerry Mac with Keller Williams Realty, and I've been helping South Jersey families buy and sell homes for 23 years. Palmyra Harbour is one of those little pockets people drive right past without realizing what's tucked back there: a private riverfront community on the Delaware River, right by the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge.

Palmyra Harbour is a private community in Palmyra, NJ, where two-bedroom townhomes have sold for $130,000 to $269,000 over the past year, with a pool, tennis courts, river walks and a boat ramp just outside the door.

Welcome to Palmyra Harbour

Most of the homes are two-bedroom townhomes built in 1972, in layouts from about 1,056 to 1,426 square feet. Listings describe a clubhouse, a large community pool, tennis courts, a dog park, walking paths along the river and a boat ramp, so the "backyard" is really the whole community. Several listings also mention that the association covers things like trash, water, lawn care and snow removal, but that varies from home to home, so always ask for the current association fee and exactly what it includes.

The neighborhood sits in Palmyra Borough in Burlington County and is served by Palmyra Borough Public Schools.

The Tacony-Palmyra Bridge Next Door

The bridge is part of what makes this spot special, and it has a great story. Palmyra's car ferry to the Tacony neighborhood of Philadelphia started on May 6, 1922. A few years later, the investors behind it bet on the automobile and replaced the ferry with a toll bridge, which opened on August 14, 1929.

The bridge was designed by Rudolph Modjeski, the same engineer behind the Manhattan Bridge and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. It's 3,659 feet long, a steel arch with a drawbridge section in the middle that lifts for ships passing on the river. It was privately owned until 1948, when the Burlington County Bridge Commission bought it, and it still runs it today. The bridge now carries about 70,000 vehicles a day.

Right beside it is Palmyra Cove Nature Park, a 250-acre wildlife preserve, so there's green space to explore within a short trip of the community.

Getting Around

Commuting is a big reason buyers look here. Listings point to easy access to Route 73 and Broad Street, plus the NJ Transit River Line and nearby bus service for trips into Philadelphia. By car, the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge and the Betsy Ross Bridge are the two nearby ways across the river.

Heading into Philadelphia on the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge costs a toll (coming back into New Jersey is free), and rates change, so check the Burlington County Bridge Commission for today's numbers before you budget for it.

Is Palmyra Harbour Right for You?

If you're a first-time buyer, most homes sold between $210,000 and $260,000 over the past year, and the amenities mean you're getting more than just four walls. If you're a renter paying close to a mortgage payment already, it's worth running the numbers. I work with a trusted mortgage partner, Alicia Lorenz, who is happy to walk you through pre-approval.

If you're thinking of selling, most homes have sold at or above their list price, and presentation matters. The updated, well-priced homes in the listings I reviewed tend to stand out. I'd love to give you a free, honest opinion of what your home could bring.
