Voorhees is one of those towns that surprises people. They think of it as "just off Route 73," and then they spend a Saturday here and realize how much is packed into it. I'm Jerry Mac with Keller Williams Realty, and in 23 years of selling homes across South Jersey, Voorhees has been a steady favorite for buyers who want a polished suburb close to Philadelphia.
Here's the quick version. Voorhees is in Camden County, about 11.6 square miles with roughly 31,000 residents (2020 census). It borders Cherry Hill, Evesham, Berlin, Gibbsboro, Lawnside, Lindenwold and Somerdale. It has a PATCO train station inside the township, a major hospital, a large regional library, and a mix of homes that runs from small condos under $200,000 to estates well over a million.
No fluff, just what I tell my own clients.
Voorhees Neighborhoods and Homes: What Your Budget Buys
Voorhees leans toward single-family homes, with a lot of 3 and 4 bedroom houses. I pulled my Bright MLS numbers for Voorhees Township, and 329 homes closed over the past 12 months, with a median sale price of $520,000. Here's how the market breaks down:
- Under $200,000 (about 20 sales): small 1 bedroom condos, roughly 600 to 900 square feet, mostly built in the 1980s. You'll find them around Gina Court, Gregorys Way, Lucas Lane, Roberts Way and Sandra Road. They're the most affordable way into Voorhees.
- $500,000 to $600,000: the sweet spot for single-family homes. Think 3 to 4 bedrooms, about 1,700 to 3,000 square feet, on lots from a quarter to a half acre, in areas like Atlantic Avenue, Woodstone Drive, Dunhill Drive, Country Lane, Festival Drive and Bradford Drive. Almost half of last year's sales (about 47%) closed under $500,000.
- $940,000 to $1.5 million (about 15 sales): larger 4 to 7 bedroom homes, many over 3,000 square feet and some on one to two acres or more, in areas like Fairway Drive, Shingle Oak Drive, Oak Ridge Court, Dutchtown Road, Simsbury Drive and Regency Drive. The highest sale in the past year was $1.5 million.
The typical Voorhees home sold is a 3 bedroom built in 1984, about 2,160 square feet, which is about 330 square feet larger than the typical home sold in Marlton over the same period.
Voorhees Schools, Property Taxes and Getting Around
Schools. Voorhees Township Public Schools is a PreK-8 district. The elementary schools are Hamilton, Kresson and Osage (grades K-5) and Signal Hill (PreK-5), and students move on to Voorhees Middle School. For high school, students attend Eastern Regional High School, which serves Voorhees, Berlin Borough and Gibbsboro. School assignments depend on the address, so confirm the school for any home you're considering with the district.
Property taxes. Taxes are a big part of the monthly math in Voorhees. The state's 2025 tax rate table lists Voorhees Township at a general rate of 2.574 and an effective rate of 2.765%. That works out to roughly $2,800 a year for every $100,000 of home value, or around $14,400 on a $520,000 home. That's a rough estimate, since every home's assessment is different, so always look up the actual tax bill on any home you're serious about. I also cover this in my guide to Camden County property taxes.
Getting around. The Ashland PATCO station is inside the township, and the Woodcrest and Lindenwold stations are close for many residents. NJ Transit's 403 bus also connects to Philadelphia. Route 73 is the main highway through town, I-295 is nearby, and Route 70 and Evesham Road (County Route 544) take you through Cherry Hill. If you're comparing the two, see my Cherry Hill neighborhoods guide.
Things to Do in Voorhees: Shopping, Healthcare and Local Favorites
Voorhees has a lot of everyday conveniences in one place, plus a few surprises:
- Voorhees Town Center: the former Echelon Mall, which now also houses the township's municipal building.
- Virtua Voorhees Hospital: a 368-bed hospital on Route 73 that opened in 2011. Having a major hospital in town is a real plus for many buyers.
- M. Allan Vogelson Regional Library: the largest branch of the Camden County Library system.
- Voorhees community park: a running track, playground, gazebo and dog areas.
- Saddlehill Vineyard and Winery: opened in 2021 on the historic Stafford Farm, a nice spot for a weekend afternoon.
- Flyers Training Center: yes, the Philadelphia Flyers train right here in Voorhees.
History fans can also see the Glendale Methodist Episcopal Church, an 1855 Greek Revival building that's on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Voorhees Housing Market Right Now
Here's what the last 12 months of sales in Voorhees Township looked like in my Bright MLS report (329 closed sales, as of October 8, 2026):
- Median sale price: $520,000 (average $539,293)
- Price range: $120,000 to $1,500,000
- Median days on market: 16 (average 28)
- Sale price vs. list price: the median home sold right at 100% of list, and the average was about 101%
- Seller concessions: the median was $0, with an average of about $3,200
What that means for buyers: half of homes sold in about two weeks, and plenty went for full price or more, so be ready to move when the right one comes along. Get your pre-approval in place first, and I can connect you with a lender I trust. What it means for sellers: the market rewards homes that are priced right and presented well from the first day.
Is Voorhees a Good Fit for You?
Voorhees tends to work well if you want a single-family suburb with larger homes, a PATCO station and a hospital inside the township, and easy access to Cherry Hill and Philadelphia. Budget carefully for property taxes, which are on the higher side. If you're looking for the lowest entry price, the 1 bedroom condos under $200,000 are a way in, but most of the market is $500,000 and up.
